Artist-in-Residence Show Opening on April 30

Join us on April 30 for the opening of an exhibition of recent works of art by 2015 Artist-in-Residence, Poo Wright-Pulliam. The artist will be present from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. in the Visitor Center art gallery/theater to answer questions about her experiences at Craters of the Moon.

During 2015, she spent 21 days on “the Moon” drawing and painting the plants and animals that not only live but thrive in this extreme environment. Altogether she sighted, sketched and painted over 100 birds, wildflowers, plants, mammals and insects in the park. Sixteen pieces will be on display including the original "Night on the Moon", a print of which was recently chosen to be included at a special exhibit at the US Botanic Garden in in Washington DC.

Wright-Pulliam served as the park's fifth Artist-in-Residence. Craters of the Moon's Artist-in-Residence program began in 2010 with artist Cindy Tower. This spring we will be hosting a new artist, Rebecca Lowry, and we are also pleased to be working with the Sun Valley Center for the Arts as they develop a major art show focusing on Craters of the Moon to be featured at the park and in their museum gallery in Ketchum beginning in late May.

Please join us for light snacks and conversation with the artist starting at 10 am on April 30 in the Visitor Center. Find your park and help kick off the National Park Services’ Centennial celebration by staying to explore the park. Wright-Pulliam’s art will be on display throughout the month of May.
